Your Plan for Health


The Ohio State Health Plan’s RN Health Promotion Specialists will provide complementary biometric screenings for Student Life employees on January 24, February 7 and 14, March 7 and 21 and May 13. These values will automatically load to your YP4H/Virgin Pulse account on the “Stats” page and you will receive credit for completing a 2019 verified biometric screening. For screening registration details, visit Log in, highlight “Biometric Health Screening,” find the “appointment code” and type in SL2019.  If you experience any difficulty, please contact Customer Service at 614-292-4700 with your Appointment Code. Ohio State faculty, staff and students may attend the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery’s (HECAOD) 2019 National Meeting July 29 - August 1 at the Blackwell on campus. With a focus on meeting the needs of campus professionals working in the field of substance misuse prevention and collegiate recovery, attendees have the opportunity to learn about evidence-based practices and how to implement them in a sustainable and impactful way. Ohio State affiliates will receive a discount by using NM2019OSU upon registration. More information is online.

Student Life Disability Services (SLDS) has a new online portal: “AIM.” Students new to SLDS can use AIM to apply for registration, and registered students can use it to generate their own Course Accessibility Letters. An additional feature is that students can now customize their accommodation selections for each class. This portal will require certain new procedures for both students and faculty/staff. The winners of the Student Life Energy Management and Sustainability’s Ugly Sweater contest are in. All participating teams took the #2DegreePledge to save energy by wearing a sweater and turning down their thermostats. The winners are:

Ohio State Welcome Leaders with OWLs forming O-H-I-O


The Office of Student Life - Residence Life is looking for two exceptional student leaders to serve as undergraduate student Co-Chairs for the 2019 Ohio State Welcome Leader Program. These paid summer positions offer students the opportunity to demonstrate and further develop outstanding leadership skills over the summer. This role includes large scale event planning, organizing spreadsheets, creating content for training, team development and more. The dates of appointment are May 13, 2019 – August 17, 2019. The OWL Co-Chair application is now open and will close Monday, February 11, at 11:59 p.m. More information is online.

Applications are now being accepted for University Ambassadors. These students provide campus tours to prospective students and special guests. Applications for summer and autumn 2019 are now open through Sunday, February 3. An info session is required, and dates, times and locations are listed online. Staff have an opportunity to further their growth and development through the Staff Career Development Grant. Eligible staff can apply for a grant of up to $1,250 for individuals, $1,750 for groups of 2-10 and $2,000 for groups of 11 or more, and the funds can be used for professional development, education or training costs related to job and/or career goals. Applications are being accepted until Thursday, January 31. More information is online.

The Office of Student Life’s Residence Life will host the annual Ohio State Night at COSI on Friday, January 18, from 6 – 10 p.m. All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend and engage with the center’s dynamic collection of exhibits and educational experiences. A continuous shuttle will provide transportation to and from campus throughout the evening and the first 1,000 guests will receive free meal vouchers at the door. More information is online.

Ryan Lovell, Student Life’s Senior Director of Parent and Family Relations and Greek Life, has been elected to the AHEPPP: Family Engagement in Higher Education Board of Directors. This is the first time the organization has allowed members to elect their leaders. Ryan’s three-year term begins this month. AHEPPP is the premier national association for professionals who work with the parents and families of college students.
