University Staff Advisory Committee on a solid background


Ohio State University offers several Rewards and Recognition activities for staff, both at the university and unit level. The University Staff Advisory Committee (USAC) has also compiled six easy ways that you can incorporate rewards and recognition into your unit. Please reference their Rewards and Recognition document for some useful tips on how you can recognize staff contributions in your area. More information is online.

Buck-I-Run (2019) in multiple colors


The Buck-I-Run 5k will impact traffic patterns on campus today, Friday, April 12, from 8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. During this time, rolling closures will occur along Tuttle Park Place, between Annie and John Glenn Avenue and Woody Hayes Drive. The Buckeye Village route will not service the RPAC, University Hall and Arps bus stops during this time. More information is online.

Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy book cover


A Staff Career Development Grant has been awarded to Jennifer Lang of Student Life Counseling and Consultation Service. With the grant and support from CCS, she will attend an intensive training on Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT), a new evidence based treatment targeting a spectrum of disorders characterized by excessive self-control, often referred to as over-control.

Citizen Shonali

Student Life Counseling and Consultation Service’s Dr. Shonali Raney is now a United States citizen after taking part in a recent naturalization ceremony at the Ohio Union. Presiding over the event was the Honorable Elizabeth A. Preston Deavers, the Chief United States Magistrate Judge in U.S. District Court. Dr. Raney and approximately 250 others took the Oath of Allegiance to become new citizens as part of the ceremony.

Ohio State is conducting a climate survey of students. Faculty and staff are encouraged to be supportive of students completing the survey. Information collected will allow the university to inform and further enhance Buckeyes ACT, Ohio State’s comprehensive plan to address sexual misconduct. The survey is available through Sunday, April 21 (extended deadline). More information is online.

Changes to the university’s Code of Student Conduct were made at the most recent meeting of Ohio State’s Board of Trustees, including clarifications and updates to several sections. It is the responsibility of each student to know and abide by the Code. As always, staff from Student Life Student Conduct are available to answer questions regarding the Code of Student Conduct. Project Move over the Nike swoosh with the url in the lower third


Nike is inviting undergraduate students to apply to Project Move, a cohort of 15 students to work with Nike experts to launch three student-led projects that inspire movement on campus. All cohort members will receive development, insights and mentorship from Nike experts, as well as an all-expenses paid trip to Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, OR to participate in the two-day Project Move Workshop. Students can apply online. The deadline for submissions is April 19, 2019.

You can join a conversation with the staff of Student Life’s Student Wellness Center to discuss the scope of student resources offered through the center, including finances, nutrition and more. The event will be on Tuesday, April 23, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Ohio Union Cartoon Room.  Current trends in college student wellness and how you can best connect students to the resources offered through the SWC will also be discussed.
